Wanna-be robber leaves Walgreens empty-handed

On July 20, 2014, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to the Walgreens located at 13542 East Colossal Cave Road reference to a wanna-be robber.

When deputies arrived, they learned a male suspect entered the store and asked the store employee for a pack of cigarettes. As the store clerk rang up the cigarettes, the suspect told her he left his wallet in his car, threatened her, and told the employee to empty the cash register drawer. The suspect abruptly left from the store and got into a vehicle. No weapon was implied or used during the course of the interaction. The suspect did not get away with any money or store items, and the store employee was not injured.

The suspect is described as:

• Caucasian or light skinned Hispanic male
• Heavy build
• Approximately 20-years-old
• Approximately 5’11’’ in height
• Wearing tan cargo shorts, a red polo style shirt and square shaped glasses

The suspect vehicle is described as:

• Gold colored SUV
• Possibly a 2007-2012 Ford Escape or other similar vehicle such as a Mazda Tribute or Mercury Mariner

The Sheriff’s Department Robbery/Assault Unit is currently trying to identify the suspect involved in this attempted robbery. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 88-CRIME or 9-1-1.
