If you had not heard of Dr. Ben Carson, who has been recognized for at least two generations as one of the world’s premier pediatric neurosurgeons, you became aware of his strength and resolve when he quietly confronted President Obama at a national prayer breakfast ceremony about a year and a half ago.
That confrontation propelled him to his current position as a respected conservative favorite. His career work inspired a made for TV movie, now with a best-selling book, a popular Washington Times column he is deluged with speaking engagements from coast-to-coast.
This spring, his speech at CPAC in March drew standing ovations from thousands and stepped up the rumors of a possible presidential run in 2016.
While soft-spoken Dr Carson is impassioned about issues he has stressed something many believed has died, common sense policy solutions to the nation’s problems. Dr. Carson while ignoring political correctness and government dependence, in private Dr. Carson has been busy vetting many of his policy solutions in private meetings with small groups of columnists and activists.
Friday the direct doctor in character, announced to the Washington Times that he has asked Houston Businessman Terry Giles to be his 2016 presidential campaign chairman should he run and approved the formation of a PAC called One Nation. These decisions were reached after Two days of intense meetings in Palm Beach with about two dozen prominent strategists, potential fund raisers and longtime supporters.
Dr Carson represents a fresh view not tainted by the habits nurtured by the establishment offering perhaps a true opportunity for change. The establishment will not be evicted from their trenches easily Dr Carson will need the support of a broad range of citizens to counter balance the resistance to change much less common sense.
If you missed his speech at the prayer breakfast it is below for your convenience.
