
Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized four vehicles, a firearm, more than $321,000 in narcotics, and apprehended 15 subjects in connection with criminal cases in recent weeks.
On July 25, Sonoita Border Patrol agents arrested a U.S. Citizen at the State Route 83 checkpoint near Sonoita, Arizona, after a search of his Buick sedan revealed a firearm, magazines, ammunition and six bundles of marijuana. The narcotic seizure was valued at nearly $72,000.
Later that evening, Nogales Border Patrol agents seized a Ford Expedition and arrested four subjects at the Interstate 19 checkpoint near Tubac, Arizona, in connection with alien smuggling.
The next morning, Willcox Border Patrol Station agents seized a truck and arrested the driver for smuggling 145 pounds of marijuana. The driver had failed to yield to a vehicle stop, leading agents to deploy a controlled tire deflation device.
On July 27, a sensor activation led agents from the Brian A. Terry Border Patrol Station to the apprehension of eight illegal immigrants dressed in camouflage attire and with carpet booties on their shoes near Naco, Arizona.
Nogales Border Patrol agents on July 30 discovered an abandoned cellophane wrapped package of heroin near the Interstate 19 checkpoint. The seizure was worth nearly $54,000.
On Aug. 2, agents from the I-19 checkpoint seized a Mercury sedan and arrested a U.S. Citizen after a canine unit led agents to the discovery of almost eight pounds of methamphetamine concealed in a false compartment in the rear seat. The drugs were worth more than $123,000.
All subjects are being presented for prosecution. The drugs, vehicles, firearms and ammunition were processed for seizure in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
