Hikers get stuck on Dos Cabezas

cochise-ocuntyOn the afternoon of Saturday August 16, 2014 the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of two stranded hikers in the Dos Cabezas Mountains.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the information received was that two 25 year old males and their dog attempted to hike up the the Dos Cabezas mountain peaks. Neither had enough water and became dehydrated. With one possibly suffering heat exhaustion. They called a friend for help who then called 911.

Due to the hikers’ location, assistance was requested from Customs and Border Protection Air Ops who launched a Blackhawk helicopter to the scene.

The hikers and dog were hoisted into the Blackhawk and flown to a Landing Zone where they were checked out by the LifeNet 8 flight crew. Both subjects and the dog were given fluids, the male subjects refused any medical treatment. The friend drove them to their vehicle.
