Attorney General Tom Horne and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio are holding a joint town hall in Oro Valley on Thursday afternoon to discuss border security. The topic of the “role of Arizona’s state government in defending and protecting its borders,” has become an increasing concern for area residents.
The town hall will be held at the Oro Valley Library, at 1305 West Naranja Drive, at 3:00 p.m. On Monday, Oracle residents said the timing couldn’t be better because they hope to talk with the two about the concerns they have regarding the recent settlement of unaccompanied alien children, who are being housed in Sycamore Boys’ Academy.
Horne was one of the first officials to inspect the Nogales Border Patrol Station through which UACs are processed during the current border surge. Horne has worked on border and sovereignty throughout his tenure. Under Horne, the Attorney General’s Office has partnered with police to dismantle 14 cartel operations.
