Quick Mart pink gun bandit arrested after public help

The Sheriff’s Department thanks the public for the numerous tips called in that lead to the arrest of 35-year-old William Bodney. William Bodney was arrested by Sheriff’s Department detectives on September 3, 2014, at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Bodney was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Complex and booked for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

Sunday deputies with the Sheriff’s San Xavier District responded to the Quik Mart at 4280 E. Benson Highway to investigate a reported armed robbery.

When the deputies arrived, the store clerk told deputies an African-American male had come up to the counter and demanded money from the register. The clerk stated the suspect had picked several items of merchandise and then came up to the counter. The suspect placed a pink and black handgun onto the counter and demanded money. After his demands were met, he left the store with cigarettes, beer and an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was reported to be wearing a red t-shirt, black jersey shorts and gold and black aviator sun glasses, with multiple tear drop tattoos near his left eye.
