Tucson pedestrian killed, stepped in front of truck

On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers were called to the South 1st Avenue and East Irvington Road in reference to a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Traffic detectives responded to the scene to investigate the collision. Detectives were able to determine that a 2004 GMC Yukon was heading eastbound on Irvington in the inside lane as a male pedestrian was crossing Irvington southbound. The Pedestrian was not in a designated cross walk when he stepped in front of the Yukon and was struck. The male was transported to the University of Arizona Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. The name of the pedestrian will not be released pending next of kin notification.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. The driver was not charged.
