On Monday October 13, 2014 the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of another telephone scam occurring in the Bisbee area. The caller identified themselves as being with credit card services,
The caller wanted to “lower” the interest rate on the potential victim’s credit card to 6.9% due to them having such a good credit score.
When the potential victim asked which card they were talking about, the caller advised the victim that they work with over 500 card companies and would not disclose a specific card, only advising that they needed the card information first.
The potential victim advised that he was a previous law enforcement officer and the caller hung up. The call came from an 814 area code and the line indicated that the number had been disconnected upon call back.
