Work to begin on St. David pedestrian pathway

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin construction on October 15 on a paved pedestrian pathway adjacent to State Route 80 in the community of St. David.

The $154,500 project will entail constructing a six-foot-wide concrete pathway south of SR 80 between North Miller Lane and a small wash near North Lee Street, a distance of approximately a half-mile. The project also will include the addition of a bicycle rack in front of the U.S. Post Office on SR 80 at Miller Lane, boulders to provide seating, landscaping throughout the project area and an irrigation system.

Work is scheduled to begin with the closure of the shoulder adjacent to eastbound SR 80 scheduled for Oct. 16. No lane closures or other travel restrictions are anticipated and the posted speed limit through the work area will remain as is.

Off-street parking and pedestrian access to the south side of SR 80 in the project area will be prohibited during the construction of the pathway, which is expected to take 60 days.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
