We would like to give a shout out to our Rincon Directed Patrol for catching a thief. On October 25, 2014, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Rincon Directed Patrol (DP) was looking for theft suspects near the area of Craycroft Road and River Road.

They spotted a suspicious male on a bicycle with a red bag along the river walk and he appeared to be signaling to someone else. They saw the bicycle in the area unattended earlier. They were unable to reach the male before he left the area. He fled down the path and was not located. Meanwhile, another local police agency received a report of a theft from a nearby business.

The suspect description was the same as the male seen earlier. A tablet computer had been stolen. DP searched the area, but was unable to locate the subject. They found his bicycle and the red bag in the area of Ft. Lowell Road and Craycroft Road.

DP talked to the neighbors in the area and approximately two hours later, they called in to report a male fitting the description nearby. Patrol deputies and DP responded and located the male. He was in possession of the stolen tablet along with other incriminating items. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Stephen Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore was arrested and booked for Burglary in the 3rd Degree and Possession of Paraphernalia.

His connection to other local thefts is still under investigation.
