Banner patient tries to get arrested, succeeds eventually

hayesOn November 6, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. two Scottsdale patrol officers contacted Raymond Hayes at Banner Behavioral Health, 7575 E Earl Dr. Hayes, who was a patient, had been allowed to use the phone. He called 911 advising that he wanted to report that he had committed a murder six months ago.

Hayes demanded be taken to the 4th Ave Jail. He refused to provide any other information, and no murder was substantiated by officers.

As the Officers were completing the contact Hayes suddenly struck one of the officers in the face without provocation. Hayes then attempted to grab the second officer’s gun. Hayes was then subdued by the use of a Taser.

Hayes was arrested for Aggravated Assault. One officer was treated and released for injuries at Scottsdale Health Care Osborn. The second officer sustained minor injuries not requiring medical care.
