After being vilified by many Arizona Wildcat fans after the last minute loss to USC, when the USC coach called timeout as he hit the game winning field goal and missed the retry.
Casey was put into the same situation against the dominant Huskies. The Washington coach called timeout as Casey kicked the ball and missed, which was a good sign for true believers. When Casey kicked the 35 yard game winner as time ran out for the 27 -26 victory, the USC kick vanished from memory. Such is the life of a college place kicker.
Casey’s Husky game day gets better, near the end of the first half Arizona lined up for a field goal to bring the score to within 10 points. Coach Rodriguez called Casey’s number and the fake field goal turned into an 18 yard touchdown by Casey Skowron.
For those who peruse the stats below would wonder how it wasn’t a Husky blowout. Washington dominated every major category total yards, passing, rushing, time off possession, and 3rd down conversions. Unfortunately they also lost three critical fumbles and had almost ten times the number of yards penalized as Arizona.
