104 year old will celebrate birthday by becoming Maricopa County deputy

arpaioAfter a very distinguished career in the British Army and later in the international telecommunications and computer businesses, 104 year old now U.S. citizen will celebrate his birthday by being sworn in as a special Deputy by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio today Thursday, December 18, 2014.

Paul White, who resides with his wife in Goodyear, was evacuated from the beaches at Dunkirk, France during World War II, a capture that was hailed in history as a “miracle of deliverance” by Sir Winston Churchill. White went on to an illustrious career in the telecommunications and burgeoning computer industry serving in positions all over the world.

His was an exciting life and with retirement proving to be just a little too quiet for White, he has decided to stir things up a bit by joining the Sheriff’s office – at age 104.

Arpaio and White met recently when Arpaio was the keynote speaker before a large veterans group. White approached the Sheriff with his notion to join the Sheriff’s Office. White indicated his desire to join came as a result of admiration for the job the Sheriff and his staff do in the face of adversity. “I admire this Sheriff, I really do.”

White will be sworn in by the Sheriff in a ceremony in the Sheriff’s Office.
