Reward offered in Old Bisbee tear gas case

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to a conviction of the person who threw a gas grenade into the home of an elderly woman.

The grenade incident occurred in the Old Bisbee area on December 6, 2014 at approximately 10:45 pm. The Bisbee Police Department advised that the elderly woman reported hearing a loud bang and called 9-1-1. When Bisbee Police arrived, they discovered a broken window and the grenade, and the woman was experiencing trouble breathing. The Officers who entered the home also began having respiratory issues and medical personnel transported the woman and the officers to a local hospital for treatment.

ATF agents were contacted to assist with this case and they determined that the grenade contained CS powder which is similar to tear gas in the effect it has on the respiratory system, eyes, and ears of individuals that come into contact with it.

Bisbee Police are still investigating this case and are asking for anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or 520-432-2261.
