Speed could be factor in fatal motorcycle collision

The Tucson Police Department investigated a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred Tuesday morning in front of 520 West Prince Road.

Just after 6:30 a.m., Officers from Operations Division West responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger car. The motorcyclist was transported to the University of Arizona Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Soon after his arrival at the hospital, the motorcyclist passed away from his injuries.

Traffic detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Prince Road in the curb lane. As the motorcycle approached the apartment complex at 520 West Prince Road, a passenger vehicle exited from the private driveway. The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and collided with the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cited for Failure to Yield from a Private Driveway. The initial investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and that speed may have been a factor in the collision.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 45 year-old Christopher McCause. Next of kin have been notified.
