Glendale Police make arrest in homicide

glendale-homicideJust after 3:00pm on Thursday, January 8, officers from the Glendale Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 8900 W. Tuckey Lane. Upon arrival they found two adult male victims in front of a residence. Both subjects had been shot. The Glendale Fire Department responded, treated both and transported both to a local hospital.

Officers on-scene quickly gathered information as to the identity of the suspect as well as his location. Additional officers responded to that second location and secured the residence in order to insure the safety of the community. The suspect exited the home and was taken into police custody without incident.

Witnesses advised that the victims and suspect were known to each other and that a verbal altercation took place before the shooting. Shaquille Johnson, a 24-year old Glendale resident, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, a 20-year old Glendale resident, is hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect, 28-year old Glendale resident Efrain Hartley, was taken into custody without incident. Violent Crimes Detectives have been at both scenes and continue to complete their investigation.

Hartley is being booked on charges related to the homicide of Shaquille Johnson and the shooting of the second victim.
