The Town of Oro Valley has appointed Bayer Vella the planning manager/planning and zoning administrator, effective immediately.
Approximately six months ago, the Town conducted a national recruitment to fill this vacancy, and Mr. Vella was the top candidate. As an internal applicant, Mr. Vella was offered a six-month interim position that would ensure a good fit for both parties through the transition. During that six months, Mr. Vella demonstrated that he has both the technical and managerial skills to lead the Planning and Zoning Division.
“Bayer Vella is approaching 16 years of service with the Town of Oro Valley,” said Town Manager Greg Caton, “and I am exceptionally pleased that he has accepted an expanded role within our organization.”
In his sixteen years, Bayer Vella has served as a senior planner, principal planner and most recently as the Town’s conservation and sustainability administrator. Vella holds a Master of Science degree in urban and regional planning and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
