Speed, alcohol might be factors in fatal collision with Tucson power pole

Tucson Police are investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred at Park Avenue and 36th Street. The incident occurred on January 11, 2015 at about 7:15 a.m.

A pickup truck that collided with a utility pole. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was identified as 35-year old Carlos Hardin. Next of kin have been notified.

The 23-year old male passenger of the vehicle was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, the 2007 Nissan Pickup was traveling southbound on Park Avenue approaching 36th Street at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control and struck a utility pole on the west side of the road. Detectives believe that speed and alcohol were a factor in the collision.
