Cab driver dies after Scottsdale assault

On February 23, 2015, cab driver Andrew M. Carnevale, age 39, died from injuries that he sustained in an attack by DB Starnes III on February 3.

On February 3, at 2:10am, Scottsdale Police officers responded to a disturbance call at the Visconti Apartments, 4425 N 78th St. Witnesses reported a fight between multiple subjects in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located several subjects including Carnevale, with a severe head wound. Carnevale was taken to a local hospital by the Scottsdale Fire Department.

Officers learned that Carnevale was the victim of an Aggravated Assault and Starnes had fled the scene. Officers found Starnes hiding in the complex. Starnes was arrested for Aggravated Assault.

Scottsdale detectives are working with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for appropriate charging.
