A Phoenix street tax for cops? That’s extortion
Joanna Allhands, AZ Republic

Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio is right: It’s a mistake to tie a hiring plan for police to a potential ballot measure for transportation.

The city needs more cops. But what kind of message would that send to voters, who will be asked to approve an increased sales tax? So, we need this money for streets and buses and rail. But think of the poor police officers?

Yeah, that’s too muddy, too disingenuous. Sounds far too much like a bait and switch.
