On March 11, an agent assigned to primary inspection referred the driver of a Dodge Avenger to secondary and discovered an undocumented Mexican national inside the vehicle’s trunk.
On March 13, agents at the checkpoint referred a Dodge Neon for a secondary inspection and discovered two Mexican nationals inside the vehicle’s trunk.
The next day, agents arrested the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze after discovering two Mexican nationals, including one juvenile, inside the trunk of a rental vehicle.
Several of the subjects removed from the vehicles stated they had no knowledge of the trunk release mechanism. Although none of the persons involved were injured, traveling with a person in the trunk of a moving vehicle is dangerous due to heat, the possibility of a vehicle accident, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Agents processed all vehicles, drivers and undocumented subjects in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
