Pima County begins budget hearings today

Today, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will begin a series of county budget hearings to review department budget requests in anticipation of adoption of the FY 2016 budget.

In anticipation of the meetings County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry sent the Board a memo outlining all of the reasons it is the State’s fault that the County continually needs to raise taxes. In the memo, Huckelberry takes no responsibility for the situation.

All county taxpayers may find his memo “informative,” according to the County’s public relations department.

In his memo, Hucklberry admits that “Pima County has received a great deal of criticism for having the highest primary property tax in the State, noting that the “combined primary and secondary tax rate is $5.7167 (excludes Fire District Assistance Tax).”
