Last week, the Casa Grande Police Department took reports of two separate residential burglaries on the northwest side of Casa Grande. In each of these burglaries, residents in the area were able to provide officers with significant information about a potential suspect and suspect vehicle.
Coincidentally, Officers responded to a single vehicle collision the same day and the vehicle involved matched the description of the suspected burglary vehicle. The vehicle contained stolen property linked to the prior burglaries. The driver of the vehicle, 18 year old Casa Grande resident Corey Bates, was arrested and booked into Pinal County Adult Detention Center. Charges of Burglary and Theft have been forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for review.
This investigation led CGPD Detectives to serve a search warrant at Bates’ residence in the 1600 block of East Elaine Court. The search produced numerous stolen property items linked to the prior burglaries and several other burglaries in the recent past. This is an active investigation and Detectives plan on forwarding additional charges of burglary based on this evidence and property recovery. The majority of the stolen property has been returned to the owners.
