Gila River Patrol Hits, Kills Pedestrian

Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian which occurred Thursday May 21, 2015 at approximately 9:10 p.m. in the area of Vah-Ki and Southern Roads in the Gila River Indian Community near Bapchuli.

The vehicle involved was a marked Gila River Police Department vehicle. At the time the Officer was responding to an unknown disturbance call.

The patrol vehicle was traveling southbound on Vah-Ki Road when it struck the pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The pedestrian, an 18-year-old male, died from his injuries after being transported to the Chandler Regional Medical Center. The Investigation is ongoing.
