Just after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, Tucson Police officers responded to the desert area just south of East Irvington Road and South Harrison Road, after receiving a 911 call about possible human remains being located.
Upon arrival, officers met with several individuals who stated they were hiking together in the desert area when they came across unknown scattered bones. Investigators from the Tucson Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. A doctor from the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded and was able to determine that the bones were in fact human and most likely from an adult male.
It is unclear at this time how long the bones have been in the desert. Additional tests will need to be completed to determine a time frame, a possible identity of the victim, and a cause of death.
If you have any information about this incident consider calling 88-CRIME.
