Lane Restrictions In Phoenix Area This Weekend

Freeway-improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (June 12-15). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

  • Northbound Interstate 17 closed between Glendale and Peoria avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday (June 13) for pavement-improvement work. Northbound I-17 on-ramps at Camelback and Bethany Home roads closed. DETOUR: Alternate northbound routes include State Route 51 or Loop 101. Northbound I-17 traffic will detour along frontage road, but heavy backups should be expected.
  • Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (June 13) for temporary barrier wall placement. Loop 101 also narrowed to one lane in both directions between Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday (June 14) and from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 15) for barrier wall placement. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. NOTE: Loop 101 HOV lanes will be closed in both directions between Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard from Friday night until late August for bridge construction at SR 51 interchange.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Riggs Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (June 13) and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (June 14) for paving. Eastbound I-10 off- and on-ramps at Queen Creek Road closed during the Friday night restriction. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.
  • Southbound Interstate 17 narrowed to two lanes overnight between Dove Valley Road and Dixileta Drive from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (June 13) for installation of overhead sign structure. Traffic will be stopped as needed for approximately 30 minutes. Northbound I-17 also narrowed to three lanes overnight between Jomax Road and Dixileta Drive from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (June 14) for overhead sign work. Traffic will be stopped as needed for approximately 30 minutes. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.
  • Grand Avenue (US 60) restricted in both directions near Loop 303 in Surprise from 1 a.m. to noon Saturday (June 13) while traffic is switched to new ramp connection to and from Loop 303. Crews also will relocate traffic signal in the area. DETOUR: Please be prepared for temporary traffic stops while work is taking place. NOTE: Following Saturday’s work, drivers will be using new temporary intersections to make US 60 connections to and from Loop 303.
  • McKellips Road and Dobson Road closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 15) for bridge work. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including Country Club Drive and Alma School roads.
