I agree with George Will who said about Goldwater Institute, “It takes time tested ideas and gives them new saliency and relevance.” He told the story about John Deere, the blacksmith, who developed the steel plow in the 1830’s – I especially like that story. I too am from Illinois where my own father was an accomplished welder who drove the farm country in central Illinois to repair those John Deere plows, tractors and other equipment year after year. He even taught “shop” at the local high school because he was considered such a good welder. He loved that, the local blacksmith.
Goldwater Institute, under the leadership of President and CEO Darcy Olsen, brings humanity to every issue. Excellent researchers and writers, Goldwater Institute has for a long time been considered a “think tank” made up of incredibly intelligent “thinkers” who are smarter than most and worthy of great attention by the public and leaders alike. Leaders in government and in the private sector benefit from their advice over and over again. Persuasive, yes, but also because the cases they make, the initiatives they support, resonate and feel right. That emotional side of intelligent discourse is so necessary to reach regular citizens who are going about their business and daily lives literally for GOD and country. Families, workers and seniors and legal immigrants and many other Americans love this country just as they should, no matter how negative the news becomes. They seek out respected organizations like Goldwater Institute to sustain their own personal beliefs and to learn as much as they can as issues arise, are debated and resolved, or not, but Goldwater Institute represents a collective mind-set on a variety of worthy causes. The world is a better place because Goldwater Institute exists.
In the tradition of Senator Barry Goldwater, Goldwater Institute prospers and continues good works, even for those who might disagree because freedom and liberty are for everyone and always will be. That’s reality.
