A 29-year-old female hiker died on Sunset Trail at Picacho Peak at 3 p.m. She was hiking with her fiancé’ and became disoriented. An emergency call was placed to Pinal County Sheriff’s Office at 2:24 p.m. PCSO Pinal County Sheriff’s Office arrived with paramedics and got to the victim about 1/2 mile from the trailhead.
By the time the paramedics reached her with the Rescue unit, she was in full code. Emergency life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead on-scene at 3:01 p.m. Her death appears to be heat-related and no foul play is suspected at this time.
