Friday afternoon at approximately 4:00 p.m., an adult female in her late 50’s was walking home westbound on E. 22nd St near S. Plumer (2400 block of E. 22nd St). An older model, 4-door SUV (“reddish”) pulled up next to the victim and two Hispanic males exited the vehicle. One of the suspects took the walker she was using. The other suspect grabbed the victim and shoved her to the ground. The suspects demanded her money and ripped the purse from her arm. One of the suspects then reached into the victim’s clothing and took her money. The suspects then fled in the SUV before police arrived. One of the suspects was armed with a knife at the time of the incident.
At least two vehicles drove by during the incident and were honking. The occupants of those vehicles yelled at the suspects to let the victim go, but no one called 911. A male citizen (teenager) stopped to help the victim, but left before police arrived.
This robbery occurred during rush hour traffic, in broad daylight. Detectives believe several people witnessed this incident take place.
