Casa Grande Police Make Arrest In String Of Burglaries

The Casa Grande Police Department has arrested 29 year old Sager Sweis in connection with burglaries that occurred early Monday morning.

Police began investigating this string of burglaries, some attempts only, shortly after midnight, Monday July 27th. CGPD received a report of a suspicious person in and around the MainStay Suites at 851 North Henness Road. Upon their arrival, Officers discovered a room had been entered and items were stolen. These items were later discovered in Sweis’ possession.

At approximately 6:00 a.m., Sweis was located at Acacia Lofts in the 1400 block of East 9th Street after witnesses reported seeing him jumping a fence and attempting to gain access into a residence. At that time, Sweis was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of numerous items of evidence that connected him to the MainStay Suites burglary and one that would be discovered later in the investigation.

Officers continued the investigation when CGPD learned of two more incidents. The first took place at Best Western where video surveillance clearly shows Sweis breaking into two vending machines, causing extensive damage and stealing money from the machines. The second incident took place at Sparkle Auto Spa where video surveillance shows a man matching Sweis’ description attempting to gain access to the business. He was unsuccessful and then walked east toward the Army Recruiting Office, where a report was made later of a burglarized vehicle. Police identified the victim of the vehicle burglary and it was discovered that some of the items found in Sweis’ possession came from that vehicle. These items included multiple forms of identification and a bank check.

Sweis was booked and transported to the Pinal County Adult Detention Center. Multiple charges of burglary, trespassing, criminal damage and identity theft will be forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for review. These cases have been turned over to the CGPD Criminal Investigations Division and Detectives are working to identify any further incidents Sweis may have been involved in.
