Pinal County Suspect Flees To Avoid Having Vehicle Towed

On Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at 3:25 a.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call from a female in the 1900 block of West Judd Road, San Tan Valley who reported a suspicious person. The caller said a female entered her residence without permission and was acting like she was on drugs. The caller reported the female left the residence and was driving a small gray vehicle.

As deputies arrived on scene, the reporting party pointed out the suspect vehicle as it was backing out of a neighbor’s driveway. The deputy contacted the driver and told her to put the car in park. The driver refused and asked the deputy if she could, “just drive home.” The deputy told her she couldn’t at which point she accelerated eastbound on Judd Road as deputies pursued her with their emergency red and blue lights and sirens on.

The vehicle failed to stop for two stop signs while traveling eastbound on Judd Road. A short time later, the vehicle stopped at a dead-end street which was located on West Grants Passage Road just west of South Edwards Road.

Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “The driver of the vehicle was identified as Sabrina Russell, age 25 of San Tan Valley. She told deputies, she fled because she was tired of having her car towed. Sabrina went on to tell deputies she had recently snorted Methamphetamines and smoked some Marijuana to bring herself down. Inside of the vehicle, deputies found a scale which Sabrina told them is used to measure Methamphetamines.”

Deputies saw signs and symptoms consistent with drug impairment. She was arrested and a blood sample was obtained with her consent. Her vehicle was impounded. Sabrina Russell was booked into the Pinal County Jail for Felony Flight, Driving while Impaired by a Drug and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
