Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s homicide detectives arrested 27-year-old Phoenix resident, Kyit OO, for murdering his wife of six years, Za Bay Da after a physical altercation Saturday evening.
On Saturday evening, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Southern Ave and El Mirage Rd after receiving a 911 call from OO indicating that there was a physical altercation between him and his wife.
OO told Sheriff’s detectives that he and his wife went to a small lake the two used to frequent. During the drive, the two engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical. Upon arrival at the lake, the pair exited the vehicle and the physical altercation continued.
Kyit OO admitted to Sheriff’s detectives that during the fight, he lost control and struck his wife several times on the head and in the face, causing her to fall into the water and ingest some water. He stated that he then pulled Da from the water and the two continued to physically engage each other. OO told Sheriff’s deputies that he again lost control and struck his wife in the face an on the head very hard, again causing her to fall into the water, ingesting water, then passing out.
OO admitted to Sheriff’s detectives that he then pulled Da’s body from the water, however left her lying face down on the bank unconscious. He continued to admit to detectives he left Da lying on the bank and drove to his parents Phoenix home where he changed clothes. OO later returned to the scene where he found his wife still unconscious, and at that point he decided to call 911 to report the incident. In addition OO flagged down a Bureau of Land Management Officer who was in the area and told the officer what he had done. The officer detained OO and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation and arrested OO.
Detectives searched the vehicle for evidence and found a considerable about of what appeared to be blood inside and outside of the vehicle.
Kyit OO was arrested and booked into the Sheriff’s 4th Avenue Jail on suspicion of El Mirage Rd. He is currently being held on $750,000 bond.
