On August 23, 2015, at approximately 10:37 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to a vehicle fire in the desert near Waterman Mountain Road, north of Avra Valley Road. When deputies arrived, the vehicle was no longer burning; however there were a few hotspots that needed to be extinguished.
Firemen from the Avra Valley Fire Department responded and extinguished the hot spots. The firemen opened the trunk of the vehicle at the request of the deputies on scene. When they looked inside, they noticed human remains within.
The Sheriff’s Department Homicide and Arson Units responded to take over the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
