Speeding Motorcyclist Injured In Skyline Drive Collision

On September 6, 2015, at approximately 8:40 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on East Orange Grove Road west of East Skyline Drive.

When deputies arrived, they learned the motorcycle was eastbound on Orange Grove Road approaching East Skyline Drive when it collided with a westbound SUV turning left into a church parking lot. According to witnesses, the motorcycle was travelling at a very high rate of speed when the collision occurred. The two occupants in the SUV were not injured.

The 34-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to Banner – University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet. The Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded to investigate the incident.

The driver of the SUV was cited for Failure to Yield Causing Serious Injury. The investigation continues on possible impairment of the motorcyclist.
