The Douglas Police Department is reporting that it has received calls of possible kidnappings in the border area. These calls are fraudulent.
The Department is warning the community to be aware of these calls that have been made regarding students or family being kidnapped and asking for ransom. The calls have been made from the same Mexican phone number, which is 55-69611638.
Police advise that if any calls from this number (55-69611638) are received, members of the public should make sure not to give any personal information or any bank information. Other border communities may also be targeted.
