The Tucson Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on East Escalante Road and South Queen Palm Drive.
On September 21, 2015, around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle collision on East Escalante Road and South Queen Palm Drive. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male with obvious injuries. The Tucson Fire Department responded and immediately transported the male to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after his arrival, the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They learned the driver of a 1991 Nissan 240SX was eastbound on Escalante at a high rate of speed. The driver of a 2011 Chrysler 200 was westbound Escalante Road and made a southbound turn on Queen Palm Drive, colliding with the Nissan. The impact of the collision caused the Nissan to strike a curb, roll and eject the driver. The driver of the Chrysler was also transported to Banner University Medical center for minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
The driver of the Nissan has been identified as 26-year-old Michael Schomisch. Next of kin has been notified.
