Following a media release published on Thursday, September 24, 2015, a wanted car thief has been identified and apprehended.
Detectives with the Auto Theft Unit received multiple 88-CRIME tips the day after a photo of the suspect was published. The information received by detectives was vetted and leads were followed up throughout Monday. By Tuesday, September 29, 2015, a possible location for the suspect had been identified and detectives began their surveillance.
The suspect, identified as Johnny Asbury-Marciano Lester, 18, was seen by detectives at an apartment complex on the northwest side of Tucson. Lester attempted to run from detectives, but was captured after scaling a wall of the complex. He was subsequently booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on a charge of Theft of Means of Transportation.
