Phoenix Bus Strike Negotiations Continued

The Phoenix Public Transit Department has been informed by Transdev, one of its contracted bus service providers, that Transdev management and members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1433 will meet Oct. 20 and 21 to continue contract negotiations.

ATU membership previously approved a strike vote authorization, meaning a potential service disruption could occur. Bus service is operating normally now, but a strike could disrupt bus service on several city routes, listed below.

Customers can get additional information on impacts to service by visiting Valley Metro’s website, valleymetro.org, or by calling Valley Metro Customer Service at 602-253-5000.

Until negotiations conclude and an agreement is reached passengers should make alternate transportation plans:

•Consider purchasing All-Day passes, instead of multi-day passes. No fare refunds or reimbursements are available if there is a loss of service due to a strike.

•Work with your employer to identify other regular bus riders that you can carpool with or meet at a park-and-ride.

•Go to valleymetro.org to register for a carpool partner or seek a seat on a vanpool.

•Ask to telecommute if your job/supervisor permits it.
