On October 26, just before 10:30 p.m., a PCSO Anti-smuggling unit detective saw a maroon Nissan sedan commit a traffic violation on I-8 at Bianco Road. He tried to stop it, but it slowed and exited the freeway.
It then crashed into the guardrail on Bianco Road at I-8. The driver and passengers fled, but were quickly captured by PCSO deputies. The deputies found 2 large bundles of marijuana and 2 smaller bundles of what was believed to be hashish in the back of the car. Total weight was 72 pounds.
3 suspects were arrested, one of them a juvenile and all of them here illegally from Mexico. They are all in custody for drug smuggling.
