On October 20, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m. a 1985 White Olds Cutlass was northbound on 19th Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s driver lost control, crossed the centerline and struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk.
The pedestrian died at the scene and was identified as Darryl Wayne Hampton (54) of Phoenix Arizona. The collision caused significant damage to structures in the area and closed 19th Avenue during morning rush hour. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot and was last seen running east bound on Elm.
Detectives have not been unable to locate the registered owner of the vehicle, who is considered an investigative lead in this case. The registered owner is identified as Rudy Loyoza Jr. He is an Hispanic male, 23 years of age, 5’ 8 to 5’ 9, approximately 200 pounds. Rudy is believed to frequent the area of 21st to 23rd Avenue form Thomas to Indian School Road.
