Maricopa County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to investigate a fatal accident which occurred Sunday morning just after 5am. The Collison occurred in the intersection of Avondale Blvd and MC 85 in Avondale. Sheriff’s deputies received a call this morning just after 5am from witnesses who saw the accident.
Sheriff’s detectives are still on scene investigating but they have determined 23 years old Cesar Aguilar Villanueva (07/15/1992) was impaired and driving at an excessive speed, when he caused the three vehicle accident. Cesar was driving a truck east on MC 85, when he rear-ended a vehicle occupied by a female and male that was stopped at the intersection facing eastbound. That vehicle then went on and collided with a truck that was stopped facing southbound waiting to make a turn onto Avondale Blvd. Both the male driver and female passenger of the vehicle which was rear-ended were pronounced dead by medical personal.
It’s too early for detectives to know the speed at which Cesar was driving but impairment as well as speed has been confirmed as factors in this accident. Sheriff’s traffic investigators remain on scene and the road will continue to be closed for the next several hours.
Cesar Villanueva will be booked into the Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail for two counts of manslaughter and two counts of endangerment. Charge modification maybe changed to more serious charges of 2nd degree murder by the County Attorney, when the estimated speed of the collision is determined at a later date.+
