Man Arrested In Tucson Robbery, Kidnapping

Albert Cota, age 30, has been arrested in a Tucson kidnapping.

On November 12, 2015, just before 9:00 p.m. Tucson Police Department officers responded to a report of a kidnapping in the 100 block of East President Street. The caller reported a 67 year-old male victim from the residence had been taken by an unknown male suspect and were possibly in the victim’s vehicle. Within minutes, a K-9 Unit officer spotted the vehicle in the area of 6th Avenue and Ajo Way. Several officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The victim was located unharmed and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Detectives from the Night Detectives Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine the suspect lived nearby but did not know the victim. Last night, the suspect responded to the victim’s residence and demanded money. The victim complied with the request but the suspect then demanded the victim to drive him somewhere else to obtain additional money. While en route, officers located both men and were able to rescue the victim and take the suspect into custody.

Cota was arrested for Robbery, Kidnapping and 2nd Degree Burglary. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. Detectives are asking anyone with additional information to please call 88-CRIME.
