Tucson Man Arrested For Death Of Girlfriend

On November 16, 2015, around 4:30 a.m., officers from Tucson Police Department responded to an initial report of a burglary in progress in the 2500 block of East Richards Place. This area is near North Tucson Boulevard and East Prince Road. As officers arrived on scene a citizen pointed to a Cadillac Escalade that was leaving the residence.

The officers learned a male inside the Cadillac was not involved in a burglary in progress but had been in a domestic violence related assault with a female inside the residence.

The first responding officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued at posted speeds. Additional officers responded to the area and followed the vehicle while the officers on scene made contact at the residence. Once inside they located an unresponsive female with obvious signs of trauma. The officers immediately summoned the paramedics and rendered first aid. Members from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene to continue treatment. Sadly, the female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. She has been identified as 46 year-old Rosalia Gilbert. Next of kin have been notified.

The officers inside the residence notified the officers following the Cadillac of their findings and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. There was minimal traffic at that hour. The driver of the Cadillac again failed to stop for the officers and did not stop for several red lights. In an attempt to disable the vehicle and prevent injury to the public, an officer conducted a PIT maneuver on Oracle Road just north of River Road. Although the driver initially attempted to continue on, the vehicle eventually came to a rest. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. He was identified as 52 year-old Christopher Raboin.

Detectives were able to determine Ms. Gilbert and Mr. Raboin were in a relationship and Mr. Raboin had been at the residence since the night before. In the early morning hours, Mr. Raboin began a physical assault on Ms. Gilbert leading to her death.

Christopher Raboin was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for 2nd Degree Murder.
