On November 27 at 8:30 a.m., a Scottsdale patrol officer stopped Dylan Robert Liberti for “jaywalking” across Shea Blvd in the area of 7250 E Shea. During the encounter, Liberti displayed signs of being under the influence of drugs.
Immediately after being contacted, Liberti refused the officer’s commands and physically fought with the officer at the scene. A Good Samaritan bystander saw the altercation and jumped in to help the officer. During the active fight, Liberti, age 23, pulled a knife from his pocket. The knife was knocked away by the officer and the fight continued.
Liberti made several attempts to grab the officer’s gun but was unsuccessful. The officer and the bystander were able to eventually handcuff Liberti. The citizen was un-injured and the officer suffered only minor abrasions. Liberti was transported to a local hospital with cuts and abrasions. He is now facing multiple felony charges including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
