On December 3, 2015, at about 10:30 a.m., 40-year-old Adam Kenneth Thomas was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault (2 counts), Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct (2 counts), from an incident that occurred in the 1500 block of West O’Neal Road, Prescott. He was also charged with Trespassing at a location in the 1500 block of West Kelly Drive, Prescott.
When deputies arrived, they found the suspect being detained at gunpoint by the reporting party and her son. Both were obviously injured after an apparent altercation with the suspect. Suspect Thomas claimed he lived in the area and was just “out jogging.” Deputies could detect a strong odor of alcohol while speaking with Thomas. Just after 8 a.m., a 72-year-old woman called 911 to report a trespassing in progress. She advised that a man, later identified as Thomas, was running across her property and she was armed. Dispatchers were also told her son, 45-years-old, was attempting to detain the suspect. While deputies were en route, neighbors reported hearing shots fired in the area of O’Neal Road.
The reporting party’s son explained that his Kelly Drive property adjoins his mom’s property on O’Neal Road. When he arrived home around 8 a.m., he saw Thomas on land between their properties. He confronted Thomas who ignored him while opening an access gate to his mom’s place and starting through it. He called his mom, told her to get a rifle and call 911 regarding a trespasser.
At this point, according to the son, Thomas turned around and pushed through the gate charging him. Thomas then headed onto his mom’s property. His mother eventually joined him, armed, with both intending to stop Thomas from leaving and causing further damage to a fence. Thomas tried to leave and punched the 72-year-old resident and her son in the face. Thomas continued to physically assault both he and his mom. As a result, the son stated he fired a warning shot from a revolver into the ground intending to convince Thomas to cooperate until deputies arrived.
The son’s injuries included facial swelling, possible dental damage and injured right arm. His mom received a contusion to her forehead and laceration to her left hand. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Thomas had minor injuries and was checked at the hospital before being booked at the Prescott Jail. He was released today pending review of the case by the County Attorney.
Thomas listed an address on Single Tree Street – a short distance north of the incident location.
