Paving work will begin on the shoulder of eastbound Interstate 10 east of Tucson late Sunday night and continue through next week. Shoulder paving operations will begin about 1 a.m. Monday (Jan. 18) and continue until 4 p.m. that day.
Overnight Monday through 4 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 20), crews will pave the shoulder at the Davidson Canyon Bridge with the work taking place behind barrier wall and no lane closure in effect.
Starting Wednesday evening, daily lane closures will be in effect while shoulder paving continues to move eastward toward milepost 288. Travel restrictions will be in effect from 10 p.m. each night through 4 p.m. the following day.
Shoulder paving is scheduled to continue into the week of Jan. 25-29, with paving of the travel lanes to follow.
Motorists should allow for additional travel time during the paving operations.
The work is part of a $15.1 million project to repave approximately 17 miles of I-10 between Tucson and Benson and replace westbound I-10 bridge at Davidson Canyon. Paving operations on eastbound I-10 are expected to continue for approximately one month. The bridge replacement project is scheduled for completion in June 2016.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
