Woman Hiker, Dog Rescued From Cochise County Cliff

On Sunday February 7, 2016 at approximately 6:30 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a 33 year old female who advised she was stranded on a cliff in Miller Canyon.

The woman advised that she parked her car at the dead end of Miller Canyon Road at approximately 2:00 pm before she and her Belgian Malinois started their hike. The woman said that she had some water but no food, and she was getting very cold.

The woman reported that she used Carr Canyon Road to get to a Forest Service road and headed cardinal point direction towards her vehicle which placed her on the cliff. The woman advised that she could not get back to the road even though it was only 100 feet away.

Air support was requested from the Arizona Department of Public Safety Ranger who responded and was able to land one skid on the cliff and pull the woman and her dog to safety.
