Man Arrested In Pima County’s Northwest Homicide

On Friday, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to the 1900 Block of West Harran Circle for the report of a burglary in progress. When deputies arrived, they learned that 46-year-old Steven Leska forced his way into the home of a woman that he had a previous relationship with.

Also in the home was 50-year-old James Kozar III. Mr. Kozar III and the woman were attacked by Mr. Leska, and sustained injuries. The woman was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, however Mr. Kozar III succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Mr. Leska was located on the property by deputies.

Homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation. Detectives arrested Mr. Leska for murder, domestic violence attempted murder, domestic violence kidnapping and domestic violence sexual assault. The investigation continues.
