Goodyear Police and Fire were dispatched to Centerra Mirage School at about 1:30 pm on March 1, 2016 in reference to 7 ill students. Police learned that two 13 year-old male students had distributed various pills to five additional students.
As a result, 6 students ages 12-15 years of age were transported to the hospital, treated and released.
Upon investigation, Goodyear Police have probable cause to believe the two boys distributed their own prescription medications to students at the school. However, as in all drug cases, the exact type of drug will go through the verification process at the DPS lab and results could take an extend period of time.
Police will be submitting charges to the juvenile court for review. Charges will include:
• Possession of prescription only drugs (Misdemeanor)
• Transfer of prescription only drugs (Felony)
• Possession of drugs in a drug-free zone (Felony)
