Three men that were part of a burglary crew responsible for a string of crimes in Scottsdale and the north valley have been arrested. The dates of the burglaries range from April 2015 to January 2016. The arrested suspects were identified as Quinn Everett O’Neill (10/7/1976), Andrew Ray Ayres (7/5/82), and Christopher Ryan Forbes-Watkins (9/24/89).
On April 28, 2015, a home in south Scottsdale was burglarized. The victim’s home was equipped with surveillance cameras which captured O’Neill in backyard and in the residence. The video was later released to the media and SPD received an anonymous tip through www.tipsoft.comlinks to external site that the suspect in the video was O’Neill.
SPD detectives began investigating O’Neill’s crimes and learned that he had two accomplices. The suspects would burglarize a home stealing electronics, cash, jewelry, and other valuables. They would immediately use the stolen credit cards at stores and gas stations around the valley. Several store surveillance videos captured the suspects as they fraudulently used the stolen credit cards.
While these cases were being investigated, an ABC15 news story aired on 12/17/15 involving O’Neil and Ayres on surveillance video stealing a package from a home in Litchfield Park. The video showed the two suspects pull into the victim’s driveway in a black Chevy Camaro with racing stripes. After viewing the video of the vehicle and two suspects, detectives believed it was the same vehicle and suspects from the 10/15/15 and 11/26/15 residential burglaries in Scottsdale. An additional anonymous tip was provided to police that the suspects were again, O’Neill and Ayres.
O’Neill and Ayres were arrested on 1/26/16 and Forbes was arrested on 2/9/16 for numerous felony charges. Search warrants were served at multiple residences and served on several vehicles. Numerous stolen items were recovered and the proceeds of the fraudulent use of stolen credit cards were seized.
Scottsdale detectives investigated five residential burglaries in Scottsdale and two from other cities (Phoenix and Glendale). The total losses are valued at $36,594. The trio was charged with five counts of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, five counts of Taking the Identity of Another, and five counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
